Day 34 - GoodBye Wuhan....

October 17 , 2010 is our last day in Wuhan...Yup 33 day passed like the speed of light. Before i have 100% adapt to their environment, i am going to leave that place already... Feeling very sad that i cant stay there for long... Well we have to face the fact..

We packed our stuffs, make sure everything was already in our luggage before we set off. Well the local students are also here to help us to carry luggage to the bus. Felt happy to see them with us for the last day in the campus and sending us to the airport.

Reach the Wuhan airport around 945am in the morning. After getting all the luggage down the bus, we bid farewell to the local students and headed inside the airport preparing for check in. Board the domestic flight at 1315pm i guess and it's a 2 hours flight to Guangzhou International airport.

After that we hang out in the air port, resting and touring inside before our next flight to Singapore at 1815pm. Dinner will be settled on the plane, Well i guess everyone nap in the plane since it's a 4 hour journey. Before going into a deep sleep, we finally reached Singapore. Well it's Home sweet home at last after a month spend in Wuhan....

Summary reflection :

Through this OIP trip, i have learn alot of things. It's an enjoyable trip for me not because i am able to tour around Wuhan but is the company which i go with. Able to meet and make friends with the local student is really bliss. On top of that, these group of 20 people who joined me together in this trip is fantastic. Through this trip, it shows me how a country security and the environment is important. It greatly shows a difference in this 2 factors between Singapore and in Wuhan. Well...being away for this 33 days, it let me grow more independently without my parents around. Able to know how to manage stuffs by myself and able to think more deeply before doing or making a decision. Well i never regret attending this OIP with a good company too :)...This is a fruitful and memorable trip marked in my life forever- ...-OIP FOR THE WIN- :)

Day 33 - Last day for shopping

October 16 ,2010 Today was the last day for shopping before we fly off back to Singapore. So we woke up early in the morning to settle some project stuffs before setting to 江汉路again. Manage to call a few of the local students to help us in the filming.. Thanks 杨涛，郑娜 and 沈平 for the help in filming:)

Once filming is done, we went to 户部巷 to eat dumplings. Also take a walk in their small back ally where there's alot of small stalls selling different variety of food. After that, we took the ferry to 江汉路 to start our shopping. Since it's a weekend, there are alot of people and most of us are squeezing our way out to each shop in 江汉路.


Shopped from day till night, as usual my leg is tired and numb. Dinner settled in ahjisen restaurant. But before that , we went to walmart to stock up all the snacks and bring it back to Singapore before it's too late.

Once after Dinner, we all decided to go back to hostel since it's already 930pm in the night. Well for Yuhaw, Nicholas and me was totally a new experience which are different from others. Since we are a big group of people in the first place, flagging one taxi wont be enough for us. So we spilt into small groups where yuhaw, nicholas and me were together. We flagged one of the taxi and gave it to zhen zhao first since 郑娜 needs to reach hostel before 1130pm because the gate will close at that time.

Well our luck is getting bad after that. We waited for 1hour plus yet not a single taxi we could flag. While waiting for cabs, 4 public bus 588 went pass us EMPTY! But we decided to take public bus after 30mins when we couldn't find any of it. When we reached the bus stop and waited for 10-15mins there isn't a single 588. So we decided to change a location to wait for taxi. As we walked down, we passed by a bus stop and we decided to look at the information board to check on other buses. Guess what!? WE MISSED THE LAST BUS AT 10pm. At that moment three of us were really panicking! This time we decided to call Yuchuan who had already reached hostel, to cab down to fetch us back.

Well manage to get him to cab down... and we walk back to the original place. We thought that this is the end of it where we can go back to hostel, so we went to Mac to buy some drinks and food while waiting for yuchuan arrival. however when we decided to check on Yuchuan location, his phone ran out of money and unable to get through. Once again we stunned for few minutes and we decided to quickly rush out the Mac and went to the roadside to wait. Luckily we manage to spot him after few minutes and board the taxi and headed back to hostel. Whole trip took us 1hour plus near 2 hours to get back. From 930pm to 12am in the night.... What an memorable experience i ever had before flying back to Singapore.... ~_~

Self-reflection :

Time really flies, now it's already the 2nd last day of my whole Wuhan trip. starting i thought that 33 days for me in Wuhan will be very very very long, but yet it turn out to be the other way round. Well in this 33 days i have learn alot... but most of all is the friends i made. Well i will enjoy the last night in Wuhan.... Goodnight (:

Day 32 - Sports Day with Local Students!

October 15 , 2010 Sports DAY! Woot....Today 12pm will have a friendly basketball match with the local students. But before that , i woke up early in the morning at around 9am....wash up but today was slightly special. Eudora , my group mate decided to treat us breakfast! Woooooahhh ... Thanks Eudora! Thanks for the delivery of the Soya bean and dumplings from 堕落街! But it still cant fill my stomach, so i decided to buy some other food from there.

After Breakfast, i joined 杨涛 and other of his bunk mates to play Badminton just outside the provision shop. Well didn't manage to take photos but well all the images are already capture in my mind :)

When it was 12++ pm , our basketball match started! Starting i thought it was a 3 v3 game but in the end it was a 5v5 game. I was in the team but i really cant imagine myself able to play a full court game after since the last time i played basketball! the whole game last around 45mins i guess...Even though it's an exhausted game, i enjoyed alot. Good job guys!

After the match, i went back to hostel to have a rest. Feel very tired after playing...guess it's because i too long never exercise :(

Soon in the evening, we all were preparing to set off to take our dinner with LSCT and the local students. It's a farewell dinner for all of us with the local students...

Self-reflection :

Today basketball match is tired yet fun for me. Finally got the chance to play with the local students. During the match, i can feel that everyone was doing their very best to score for their own team. Played really well and fairly. I notice that when they made fouls, they will shout it out to inform the referee instead of continuing the game. I think this is the right way of playing. Even though we lost in the end...i still enjoy myself throughout the whole game.. Hopefully we still got the chance to play again friends :)

Day 31 - Eat - Shop - Eat again

October 14 , 2010 Is our free and easy day after since the last lecture. Well it's a fruitful day for me because i finally got somethings i want from shopping!! As you can see from the heading, yup today was eating, shopping and eating again ! WOOT Alright let me begin my story for today. Early in the morning, Eliza they all knock on our door while i am preparing. Well they help us to buy breakfast from 堕落街. while waiting for Yuchuan to wash up and get ready to set off they all camped inside my room for breakfast and some small chats.

Once Yuchuan is done, we all went out to flag for cab to 江汉路. The ride is roughly 30mins from our hostel to there. When we reached there, we went to Dico to have our lunch. Dico is similar to KFC , just that they have much more variety compared to KFC and the price is rather about the same as them too..

Okay after lunch, our shopping officially started! As we walk along, we came across a shop name "Meterbonwe" where they sell jeans, formal shirts and casual shirts etc. So we all went in to take a look. Take a look become an hour plus camped inside the shop. In the end Yuhaw , Yuchuan and me bought something from the shop. Thanks Jia li for helping me to pick a jeans :D

After that we all continue to walk and talk...then finally we got tired and went to Starbucks to have a rest...Ordered a few snacks and drinks then we started to have chat before we proceed to have our dinner.

Dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant. It was my first time going there . Well the whole atmosphere is good, environment is clean too !

Self-reflection :

Finally got the jeans after choosing for few hours. Thanks all of your for waiting :) Enjoyed alot while hanging out with this group of friends who went shopping with me. Well not much days left before we separate to our own ways. I will cherish such wonderful moments till the end of the trip. Thank you all for being such a wonderful friend(:

Day 30 - Last day of LECTURE!

October 13 , 2010 was the last day of lecture. Which means that it's free and easy for the next few days..Yay 3 cheers for that ! Well lesson ended around 12 plus and most of us headed to have our lunch. Today lunch we didn't went to lemon / happy kitchen but we decided to eat at a new stall call 长江厨房. Well it's just beside 柠檬乐. The structure is similar with 柠檬乐 just that it's quite run-down compared to that .

After that, most of the girls went to have a make over for their hair in the salon in 建设二路 at the top level of supermart. It's the same salon where i went to cut my hair few weeks ago! Once they are settled down in the salon, A few of us who are not going to had a make over for our hair decided to go 七路 for a walk. However, we never expect that the rain have stop the stalls from setting up in the flea market. So we left no choice but to walk along the retail stalls for some window shopping.

Well after that we went back to hostel to rest...This is how we end our day...nothing much to do because of the rain..Well hopefully tomorrow doesn't rain so that we can shop whole day!!! woot ...

Self-reflection :

Today is the last day of our lecture, which means that we will soon going to take our exam when we get back to Singapore and even sooner we will be leaving this place. I hope everything will go smoothly and hope that everyone will cherish these few days...signing off now, need to sleep early! bye!

Day 29 - Cultural interaction with Local students !

October 12 , 2010. Settled our Project presentation early in the morning at around 10am before doing other stuffs. Well did my part of work in the presentation and manage to complete stuffs before the presentation starts. Everything went smoothly i guess. After that we went to 快乐厨房 to had our lunch to act as a celebration after few days of hardworking rushing out our report and power point presentation.

After lunch, we went back to bunk to prepare all the necessary things for our performance upcoming at night. Practice the dance quite a few times so that we can remember it. After that, i went back to bunk for a nap and then when time is up, i went together with them to the meeting area for performance.

It was then 715pm where i finally reached a lecture hall. Once i step in there, what i see was 100++ students settling down at their seats. I was getting nervous and worried about my performance. But well in the end it turn out to be alright and felt very relieved after performing. Well, i enjoyed very much today.... got to go sleep now , need to wake up early in the morning...goodbye all !

Self-reflection :

Today during the performance , i find that each and every group have put in alot of effort to make up for this performance. Well i find that such cultural interaction will help both local and Singapore students to gain more knowledge on their cultural intelligence as they get to know both Singapore and china culture. I feel that today performance was nice and i have gain more awareness about their life in china!

Day 27 - 2nd Day of 武当山

October 10, 2010 continued from yesterday wudang tour. Today Is the real challenge for us because we are all going to climb to 武当山highest peak call the 金顶(jin ding). This is the highest part of the whole 武当 which requires alot of energy and hours of climbing in order to reach there. I heard that it's roughly 4-5km up the mountain! So in order to make in on time, we woke up at 6am, breakfast at 630am and set off to the mountain at 7++am.

Starting of the journey is still okay for me as it's not that tiring but as we have walked for 1hour ++ and as we goes on, the steps are getting steeper and steeper which makes us more and more tiring . Here are some of the pictures! See the whole journey of the walking...

After that, we all climb down the mountain Asap because we are very hungry. After lunch , we took the coach back to hostel and this marks the end of our 武当tour. Well pretty sad that such nice memories ended so fast...Hopefully i am able to see it and experience again next time .... cya all !

Self-Reflection :

In this wudang trip, i have seen alot of elderly people climb up to the peak of the mountain despite of their conditions. I can see their determination which keeps on pushing them to climb up to the peak of the mountain. I really respect their actions because , even a teenage like me already have problem climbing the mountain. But they still continue to perserver to the end. I think that we should learn such spirits from them... Well time to sleep, very tired... bye all!

Day 28 - TEAM BUILDING GAME FOR LECTURE !

October 11, 2010 started lecture in the afternoon as everyone was very tired after the Wudang trip on the 10th of october. Even though it's afternoon lesson, i still woke up early in the morning at 930am. Don't ask me why, because it's my body alarm which call me to wake up. HAHA. So after washing up, i went to 堕落街 to buy breakfast! Well ate some dumplings and finally tried the 周黑鸭, quite famous in Wuhan.

Then , i slacked all the way in the bunk watching movies, relaxing before attending lecture in the afternoon.

1pm strikes and we all get ready to go to class. Today lesson was interesting. Ms Hock told us to build a bridge which can withstand several book weight. So i get my group members and started working on it. In the end our bridge was being made into a "Sampan Boat shape" which still able to withstand 4 heavy books. Well good job team! :)

After lesson, we all went back and start to "chiong" our projects and report. That's all for today! BYE BYE all!

Self-reflection:

Today team building game was rather a meaningful lesson to me in this lecture. This is because i find that through this team building game, we can clearly see how our team-members work together. This is where we can see what are our team members are forte in each section. Well i am confident that we are able to work together as a team and strive for the best! 加油all! Group E gogogo haha... Day 26 - Wudang (武当) here i come!

October 8 2010 , HELLO all! Today it's the last touring trip in Wuhan. TODAY we are heading to 武当山! Woke up early in the morning at 6am, get ready to set off at 645am. Before that we head to 堕落街 to buy some breakfast. After that , we all boarded the bus at here goes our 5 hours ride to 武当山!


Reached there around 1230pm and had our lunch in a restaurant. Then now is the beginning of our tour! Bought a ticket at the ticket counter and we proceed to take the mini bus up the mountain. First stop was the 太子坡 followed by the 紫霄宫 then lastly by the 玄帝殿. All of these temple are very old, but yet they are maintained well! Okay pictures ahead!

After that we proceed to our hotel to take dinner, then went back to hotel and rest. Need to get ready for tomorrow mountain hike! Cya again !

Self-reflection:

Very tired but happy because i finally got the chance to go to 武当山. I like the environment and the scenery there because the weather is very cooling!!!! Oh, today i am so lucky! I manage to toss a coin into the 龙头香 with just one coin. HAHA, alright stay tune for more Wudang experience tomorrow ! Bye !

Day 25 - 3 in 1 Package

October 8 , 2010 as stated in the title above. Today it's a 3 in 1 package. Why do i say that? It's because there's 3 activity i do today. Practical test > Project > Shopping. Well nothing much to say because it's just another normal test. Well did the best i could, hopefully it will turn out to be good... Up next is project discussion, today we went to do some filming for my project movie and it's successfully taken! Hopefully we can finish the video on time because now we are really running out of time! :p

After project discussion till the evening. A group of us decided to go to 汉口 to do some shopping . We took a taxi there because it's peak hour but it's rather a disappointment. This is because that taxi meter anyhow jumps inconsistently. In the end some of us who shared the taxi end up at the end of the 步行街 and the whole taxi fair cost 42 RMB. It's far to expensive as compared to others who took taxi too.

Well let's not talk about this again. After alighting, we went to a 步行街 similar like pasar malam in Singapore to shop for a few hours. After that, we settled out Dinner at a restaurant then we went back to hostel. Another unlucky incident is we waited bus 588 for 20mins and it's full of people. We managed to squeeze up the bus but everyone was packed like sardines! That's all for today, so should i consider lucky or unlucky today? hmmm...

Self-reflection :

Really felt pissed after being 'Conned' by the taxi driver. Seriously it's really pissed and angry when you yourself know that you are being conned by someone but yet you cant do anything... Well i hope that taxi driver will feel guilty what he had done. As for you people out there, next time be more careful when taking the taxi! Got to go now, need to sleep early. Tomorrow i am going to 武当山. WU DANG HERE I COME!!!!!! :D

Day 24 - INTERACTION WITH LOCAL STUDENTS!

October 7 , 2010 It's interaction day with local students in the afternoon! After PM lecture in the morning, we all went back to hostel to get ourself ready for today's activity. Well since it's a BBQ in the afternoon, we all went to the provision shop to buy the necessary stuffs for BBQ. Drinks, snacks all sorts of stuffs are bought for the BBQ secession and off we go at around 12pm. The BBQ pit was somewhere near 建设五路 and it took us around 1 hour journey of walking! VERY TIRED once we reached that place because it's very far away from our campus.
We get started by laying mats on the floor and begin to do those necessary preparations. Starting up fire, cut and poke those hotdogs and mushrooms.

After that , i went to a open area where there's alot of sports for us to play. Table tennis , Badminton, Basketball etc. Today i learn another new skill in my life. I finally know how to play table tennis today. Thanks to 沈平(shen ping) , one of the local student who teach me how to play table tennis! Thank you 沈平！Well i got hooked on that sports and i keep on playing it.. Table tennis is fun!

Other than playing table tennis i also play basketball , badminton with the local students. Well they are much better than me in sports because they do practice frequently, unlike me :(

After whole activity ,we all left the place together and went back to hostel to rest. What a day, What meaningful and enjoyable day for me ...

Self-reflection :

Thinking back today about the BBQ secession in the afternoon, i find that it's a good experience for us to have such interaction with them. First is to get to know them more , second is to know more of their lifestyle. For example, The way their BBQ and us in Singapore is totally different. They BBQ cabbage, mushrooms , meat , 馒头(Buns) etc while for us is Fish, seafood, meat, marshmallow and alot more. They use oil instead of butter to apply on the food too. Well this is what we should know, their way of doing stuffs are different from us which can distinct show a difference between both country. But what really important is that through this interaction , i have know more friends and this is the best thing i ever experience today! :)..
