Day 8 - OIE + PM + No outing = Nothing special

September 21, 2010 is a normal day for me. Nothing much I did today. We had our lesson as usual , 9am was the start of OIE and after lunch was our PM lesson. Today I almost got late again, lesson starts at 9am and I woke up at 845am. Gosh I was rushing like mad, took a fast wash up and quickly change and rushed to the classroom. Well Thanks Yuhaw for calling me a lot of times LOL, sorry can’t get up :/

Hmm what should I blog for today? Why not let me share some of the things I studied today in OIE and PM. Firstly for OIE we are thought basically on the areas in china. They are divided into south, northeast etc. We study the map of china and those provinces. Today’s teacher was not Ms Zhang, is another teacher who is in charge of teaching China’s culture too. She’s call ms grace. She talks more lively and trying to capture our class attention for lessons. Well she’s funny too, trying to talk using her own words rather than reading from the PowerPoint slides. Also she will get very stress and pressurize when she is unable to answer our question. We did some exercises too like identifying those places in china etc…
Also today ms grace told us 1 phrase " 天上有九头鸟,地下有湖北佬" This means that people in HuBei is very smart in the way of how they treat people. It might be deal in business or something else. Well i am not sure also. This is just what ms grace told me. :o

Exercises we done in OIE class

This is what we mainly learn in OIE, still got more but I guess if I continue writing, my blog will be very dry… Okay next was lunch time… Today’s lunch was taken inside our bunk. Must be wondering that Maggie Mee again right? WRONG , we call for delivery today, from a vegetarian stall near our hostel. We are too lazy to walk out to buy our canteen food so Han Hui decided to call the vegetarian Delivery. We had a chat with the delivery guy because we went once or twice to his shop and now he recognized us. Another funny thing was we just anyhow bomb to him that we are from Fu Jian (福建), but how coincidence that he was also from there. So this is how our whole conversation starts. Besides that, the food is nice too, so if next time we are lazy to buy food, we will keep calling for delivery. Cheap + save time = 划算 (worth) ^_^

Our lunch

Up next, PM lesson FTW. Once again my mentor ms hock Aka Module leader of PM , teaches us on AOA ( Active – on – Arc ) It’s the same as AON just that the arrows represents the activities. Okay, this is a little confusing for you’re so ignore it. Did some of the exercise and assignments on AOA and after that Ms hock teaches us on how to go BLOG SHOPPING. She is very excited when it comes to Blog shopping. She gets very enthusiastic and keeps on smiling and laughing. ( HAHA please don’t mark me down Ms hock , stating it based on my observation :p)

Ms Hock teaching us AOA

Showing us how to buy thing through blog

Went back hostel after lessons and rest took a few hour of rest. Dinner settled in 柠檬乐( Our common eating area ) After dinner, I guarantee that everyone feels happy because WUHAN finally experience the cold weather at 19 degrees!!! WOOT! Finally, bye hot weather, welcome Cool weather!! Okay… end of my story for today, I know its dull, dry and boring, SORRY : (

Self- reflection :
Today my reflection is going to a have an overview of my 1st week life in Wuhan. Starting from the day I left till now, things changed. Learning how to be more independent, alert and other stuffs. Day by day passes, from a group of strangers (for some of us) has graduate develop closer bonds with each other. Well such things are hard to describe, but sometimes feelings are quite accurate when it comes to friendships. In Wuhan, I have seen a lot of difference and similarities in Singapore. Weather, climate, food, language and standard of living is all different from Singapore. Even though the environment might not be albe to compare to Singapore but people in Wuhan are still living here happily. This is the kind of quality of life which is different from Singapore. Well that’s all for today, very tired now. Once again sorry for the boring post >< Cya!

September 20, 2010 our second IS class in WUST. Ms Zhang is teaching us about china’s politics. Give us a better understanding on china politics and briefly tell us about their state council. Also I understand from her that that any Chinese citizen over at the age of 18 is able to accept and abide by Party’s constitution and policies. This means that I am also be able to join their politics practices if I am china citizen now.
Up next, new campus tour at another University in Wuhan!

Which one is more beautiful? Model / real structure?

Local Students marching , Very different from Singapore soldiers marching right?

My Dinner, 土豆炒牛肉盖饭

Self-reflection :
Today's trip to the new campus of WUST is an eye opener for me. Their campus is roughly 5 to 6 times bigger as compared to Ngee Ann. Well there's two things i would like to say. First is the "soldiers" i saw in the campus. In China, i think that its compulsory for everyone to be a "soldier" for atleast a month. This is part of their learning activity. Both females and males are required to learn how to march. Or i should say basic military training. I think as compare to singapore National service, theirs was just like a school CCA activity which train them to be more discipline. They don't go under a tough training encountered in NS.
As for the second thing was interacting with the local students. They are very friendly towards us. Well i have chat with a few of them and i notice most of them are active into sports. That's the reason why the campus have so many facilities for their students. Their life compared to our studying life in singapore is different. They will normally exercise daily as compared to me in Ngee ann, was slacking when i have any breaks in between. Well I guess its time for me to exercise when i get back to singapore. Living a healthy way needs more exercise! HAHA
Before signing off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIYANAH!!! CHEERS !!! Bye bye !!

Day 6 - 36 degree CITY TOUR

September 19,2010 touring in the city at 36 degree early in the morning. Woke up very early in the morning at 7am, and prepare everything within 10mins. When everyone is ready, we board the bus and off we go to our first station to 东湖 (East Lake). There are total of 4 stations which we are touring around Wuhan City. 东湖, Museum, 黄鹤楼(Yellow crane) and 江汉路. Today is another blog which pictures will show your everything about the 4 stations I mention.

Alright let me talk a little about 东湖. It’s very beautiful lake which consist of a lot of trees planted beside the lake. The whole environment is very refreshing and I think that place is the only place which I can smell fresh air!

Well next place was to the museum. This museum is very beautiful but before entering, there’s a security check which is very strict. Water bottles are not supposed to bring in and all the belongings need to go under the scanner to check. This is like going through the custom immigration!
Inside the museum there’s a lot of the artifacts. Here are some of it.

Next is lunch time at a quite high class restaurant. There’s around 8 dishes 1 soup. The taste of the dishes are as usual, very oily. Well here are the picture

8 Dishes ,1 soup LOL the soup have come yet :p
Before

After

Yellow crane tower is our third stop. Well it’s a very beautiful place with magnificent views from the top of the tower. The highest level was 9 story.

Lastly was going to the 江汉路 which we have been there at yesterday. So didn’t do anything but just went to Starbucks to get ourselves a drink since the weather is very hot. After that, we took the bus back to hostel. The other people went back to their bunk but Yuhaw, Hanhui and me went to the back street there to buy some food. Well Yuhaw and I went to 柠檬乐 to eat our dinner and went back bunk to rest.. day 6 ends here…

Self-reflection:
Finally get the chance to visit a tourism area in China, Wuhan. Felt very excited and anticipated. First impression when I reached 东湖 I was like WOW. The view was very beautiful and the air is fresh. Lots of trees planted beside the lake which makes the whole atmosphere exactly the same on TV. Second fascinating spot was the 黄鹤楼 ( Yellow Crane Tower). The whole areas give me a feeling that I was teleported back to the old days in china few thousand years ago. The structures of the streets and the tower are magnificent. I love the top view from the tower at the highest level. The only part which is pity is the air in Wuhan, since its very pollulated some of the views are very blurred. Well I hope that the air pollution will get better like Singapore so that more and more people is able to enjoy such beautiful scene … Signing off now, needa do PM T_T bye bye !

Day 5- Food All the way, SHIOK AH :D

September 18, 2010 Well today was the first shopping spree for the week. It’s the FREE AND EASY Day where everyone got prepared and 11am and off we go!!! We walked out to the nearest bus stop and take 588 to 汉江路for shopping. Well the place is crowded and its filled with lots of shops. Well today my blog will be slightly special. There’s a phrase which says “ A Picture Shows A Thousand Words” instead of describing pictures will lead your throughout the whole journey in my blog. From start of the day till the end of the day. Filled with food, streets and many more…. So let’s get STARTED !! :D

Walking to the bus stop

On bus :D

This is 汉江路. Its the place which is full of Shopping centres and food !

This is in a dumpling restuarant ( 大娘饺子) Sold alot different types of 饺子

Before
After

Well, its so nice that we 4 people, Liangxun Han hui Yuhaw and me total order 60 dumplings and we still order some side dishes.

After that, we went to another area by taking a ferry across the Yangze River. there are lots of food for us to eat. So we settle our dinner at there with lots of nice food with us. Here are someof our pictures! :D

This i a cruise i guess, when i was taking the ferry! :)
i drank this 3 times today, it's dam nice 凉茶wooo!!

Self-reflection : Today was a great day for me. Finally got the chance to go to other areas for shopping and sight-seeing. Well what i should say was comparing to sinagpore and wuhan, their shopping malls are roughly the same just that for the pathway wuhan is much more bigger as compare to singapore. Also today i saw a young boy doing some street performance in the middle for the pathway to earn money. I think that it's a very sad because that little boy was just around 4-5yrs old and their parents are forcing them to earn money while they are sitting aside looking at him. Well i guess it's something which we should learn from. We must be glad that our parents are able to give us everything we want. Not like the little poor boy who need to do street performance to earn money. Okay thats all for today, very tired now after whole day of walking , Cya guys (:
