Day 19 - Shopping SPREE FTW !

September 3 , 2010 ITS SHOPPING SPREE DAY but i overslept and missed the meeting time early in the morning at 9am. It's a joke right? HAHA but well too tired after doing blogging. I was actually woked up by the noise outside my bunk at 9am. I woke up at 9am and i got no choice but to go ourself to the 江汉路. Well i slacked all the way till 12pm and had out lunch in bunk. Called for a delivery from the vegetarian stall. To be honest everyone is already being hooked by the vegetarian food because it's really delicious! ( esp the 茄子带鱼) HAHA.

After lunch we set off at around 1245pm to the bus stop and took 588 to 江汉路 for 14 stops at around 40mins. Well today will be very crowded than usual because it's weekend and its public holiday i guess since China national day was just only yesterday.

Because we all go at different timing so Nicholas, Yuhaw and me walk together while Hanhui ,Edward, Agnes and yixian walk their own ways. We took around 2hours plus to walk almost finish the whole 步行街 in 江汉路. Seen alot of autumn wears selling in shops with alot of discounts given from 20% up to 90% discounts!
After that we went to 大娘dumpling restaurant to had our dinner. This time liangxun joined us while Nicholas joined the other group for shopping. Very complicating right? keep changing people.... Once finished dinner, we headed back to hostel to put our stuffs and we went to 建设二路 to buy some supper. I bought MAC back to hostel and took our supper with Liangxun and Michelle. Well i guess it's getting late... End of today's story, going theme park tomorrow! Cya !

Self-reflection :

Indeed it's a good experience today during shopping in 江汉路. Crowded places will easily attract theft. Yuhaw have encountered one who the theft unzip his bag when he was looking for some shirt. Well luckily there's nothing in his bag so nothing is lost. So a piece of advice for everyone is Please put your belongings on your body, don't put inside the bag. As for females hold the bag tightly. Staying alert is the most important key!

Today i notice how those stalls attract customers to come into their shop. On top of posters, they also call a few salesperson to stand at the entrance and keep shouting. Once entered the shop there will be a repeat announcement keep repeating the same old thing. It's very different compared to Singapore shopping centres or shop. I guess they are doing this because there's too much competition between each other so they have no choice but to keep repeat the announcement so that people will come and patronise their shop!... Alright that's all for today, need to turn in if not i will be late for theme park TOMORROW !

Day 18 - Happy National Day China~

October 1 ,2010 happy national day china! Woo local students have 7 days of holiday.. Cheers for them But i still need to go and attend PM lessons. Oh well, nevermind faster clear finish module = more time for free and easy!

Today early in the morning when we wanted to go to the back street to buy our breakfast, we received a notice that the backgate will be locked permanently beginning of 1st october. IT MEANS THAT WE NEED TO GO 1 BIG AROUND IN ORDER TO GO TO THE 堕落街TO BUY FOOD. This is a bad news for us. I heard that its to encourage local students to dine in their canteen and also for security purposes.

Next is lunch once again in 柠檬乐 with Mr chia and Haoteng and the other group of girls. As usual 3-4dishes we ordered and after that they all went back to hostel while i walk around trying to find a optical shop. i walked 1 hour plus and i finally a optical shop! Fixed up my glasses near 建设二路 and i tour around that area once again, looking for nice food and places for shopping!

After that, i went back to hostel to rest and wait for yuhaw they all to take dinner. Dine in Mac since everyone is already sick of 柠檬乐and快乐厨房.

After mac, everyone went for a shopping spree! Walk around 建设二路 with alot people together. Fun thing about shopping is the bargaining part where both the buyer and seller trying to negotiate for the best price. Well thats all for today, Nothing much for today... haha Cya!

Self-reflection :

Well what i can reflect today was the permenant closure of our backgate near the hostel. I feel that closing the backgate do have their pros and cons. Firstly Pros is convenience for people like as who stay near the hostel. We can simply just go to the backstreet ( 堕落街) to grab a bite without walking a big round. However cons is once the backgate is closed, we need to walk around 200m to another sidegate and walk another 100m to reach the street. Security level will also increase as there's less people entering and exiting the gate. I guess management set the rules is because of security problem. Second thing is shopping at 建设二路, as it's the china national day. Whole street is flooded of people where it's similar like Chinese new year in Chinatown. It give me a feeling that it seems like everyone is celebrating the national day together regardless whether they are china citizens. Its really an enjoyable moment walking down the street.....

Day 17 - Eve of China National Day

September 30, 2010 It's the eve of china national day and also the day before my exam results is released. As usual started lessons in the morning. Good news is we finally completed Practical lessons for PM. But bad news is we need to apply all the stuffs we learn in practical for our project , which is the tedious part!

After PM practical everyone went to get their lunch. I called delivery from a vegeterian stall but i followed others to buy burgers from a fast food restuarant. The burger is tasty, thats what i can describe. They can be compared with KFC in singapore.

Buy back some of the burgers back to hostel to eat during tea-time. So the whole afternoon is free for us to prepare for the presentation and after my presentation i went to have a rest until its dinner time. We went to the vegeterian shop to had our dinner since we are all invited by the boss. Must be wondering why we are invited by the boss right? This is because Han hui is their regular customer and since its the eve of China national day so the boss call all of us to go and celebrate with them. Well what i can say is thank you Vegeterian boss for inviting us, appreciated !

Self - reflection :

Today's dinner can say it's a heartwarming dinner. I say this because the boss really treat us as his own friends where he invited us to eat steamboat together. Such acts i doubt i have experienced in singapore before. Their actions treating us is really full of sincerity. Well i really want to thank him for treating us this meal and let me experience that there are still so nice and heartwarming person. Happy National Day - China :D

Day 16 - Coca Cola Industrial Visit !

September 29,2010 our second industrial visit in Wuhan. Today we are visiting Coca Cola Factory!! WooT finally we got a chance to know how is coke being manufactured. Its a Coca Cola factory in 湖北. Took around 40mins ride from WUST to there i guess.

In order to let you guys to have more understanding about Coca Cola, i will do a brief summary of it. Coca Cola company do produce alot of beverages which includes Fanta, Sprite etc. Its being invented in 1887. From past till now, Coca cola have been increasing in demand as their revenue kept increasing!

After touring around the factory, we head back to our campus to had our lunch before our OIE presentation. As usual i went to 快乐厨房 to had my lunch and head straight back to hostel to get my stuffs for presentation. In this presentation we are suppose to give 3 difference and 1 similarity between wuhan and singapore. Through the different group presentations , i have learn more about the difference and similarity that i have not learned.

Self-reflection :

Time flies so quickly and now it's already day 16 in Wuhan. Soon we will be going back to Singapore. Well today visit and presentation is fun. Firstly for the tour, it's an eye opener for me where its my first time experiencing the process of manufacturing coca cola. Every bottle of Coca Cola we bought from the Supermarket is every workers in the factories hardwork and effort. Without their effort, i doubt coca cola will come to such success now. Noticing that during inspections, The factory workers stands near the conveyer belt to inspect the glass bottles. Imagine inspecting the glass bottles without seating on the chair for few hours... i guess i will collapse within a day with my legs numbed!...Well i guess i am lucky to have the chance to experience such wonderful process!

Day 15 - Industrial Visit ( WISCO )

September 28, 2010 is our first Industrial visit ever since we arrived in Wuhan. The first industrial visit was to Wuhan iron & steel company (WISCO). Meeting time at 8am so as usual, we rushed to the meeting area early in the morning before we got fined. Board the bus and took around 30mins to reach WISCO. This industrial visit is to let us has to have more understanding on the manufacturing of steel and iron. Well, here are some of the pictures i took during the visit! Enjoy!

For your guys information, the 3 rolled Iron sheets are the first batched of iron being dispatched from the whole manufacturing process in 1978. Thats why they are being placed here to keep as a memory for the success of the manufacturing those iron.

Self-reflection :
Able to know more about the manufacturing of the iron and steel through this industrial visit is a good experience for me. From young till now i had never even see before the whole process of iron and steel being made. Another thing was reguarding about water. Today in our hostel , we encountered water shortage for the first time. Everyone was panick when we all heard that the hostel water had stopped. Everyone was trying to source for water for bathing and other stuffs. I manage to get 1 pail of water for bathing. The process is a torture where i had to limit myself from over using the 1 pail of water for bathing. Well this reflects that in singapore, we seldom encounter water shortage problem which make people now not sure how to react when such incident happens. I think that after been through this experience of water shortage, we must really cherish water. When there's no water, our life will be seriously affected. Water is precious! :) Signing off now ! bye

Day 14 - Chinese Philosophy

September 27 ,2010 Chinese philosophy for IS today! Now every IS lesson are all conducted by Ms grace. Well your might be thinking who is ms Grace. There will be a picture showing you guys who's my IS teacher.AHAH! Chinese philosophy sounds boring but actually i enjoyed the lesson today in IS. Getting to know more about the history of chinese philosophy and also able to learn more about those motto from those famous Philosophiers such as 孔子. Alright pictures now !

After IS, we all went to had our lunch at the soup restuarant. After that me and Yuhaw went to 建设二路 to buy some stuffs. After that we joined Yuchan and gang to buy present for Zhen Zhao bday! Dinner was at greenery Cafe and everyone was informed to reached there by 530pm.

Self- reflection :

Today IS lesson is really a great learning experience for me. I find that Chinese philosophy are interesting where those famous Chinese philosophers like 孔子 and 孟子 wrote things which are really very practical to life. Those quote is educational which really teaches people how to become a real person. Well i find that china education has made the right choice for letting their students to study those quotes from these famous philosophers because from my personal point of view. I think that those quotes they say are true and if we really learn and used them in our daily life, i guess our life will be more fruitful....

Day 13 - Last day touring 3 gorges

September 26 2010 Last day on the cruise! Woke up early in the morning to pack up everything before leaving the cruise. We left the cruise at 7am and proceed to take a bus to the 三峡大坝 ( 3 gorges DAM ).

First stop was to the visitor centre in the 3 gorges. Just sharing some information regarding about the 3 gorges. They spent roughly RMB 20billion to build the Dam and they need 9 years to complete the whole project and will end in 2012.

After that we went to another part of the Dam to take some photo. The area is call the 185 观景点(185 Sight-seeing)

Tour ends around 11am and we all board the bus and head to a restuarant to have our lunch!!

We finished our lunch in around 40mins time and headed back to WUST in 青山，BUT in the middle of the journey there's an accident which jams up the whole highway. A container full of cabbage overturn! Heres the picture!

Self-reflection :

Finally ended the 3 day 2 night tour in the 3 gorges. Feeling very tired but it's an enjoyable trip! Today as i said that i was stuckin the middle of the highway because of the accident. Well firstly i thought that we are going to stuck there for atleast 5-6hrs because of the car accident but i neverthought that even though china is so big, their policeman still able to reach the area in aroudn 10mins? And the delay in Jam is less than an hour. This shows that china policeman are still efficient. Well quite sorry for the lorry driver who delivers the cabbages because all the cabbages dropped onto the floor and there's alot of people picking up them. I think because people in china have a hard time earning money and mostly are poor, so they will just go there and pick up those cabbages that are less damage and bring back home... hopefully this will act as a reminder for us that not to waste food.. hhaha alright signing off , cya!
